A note from Amity
I've spent over a decade as a classroom teacher. I hold postgraduate qualifications in language and literacy. And when I started homeschooling my own three boys, I had to completely unlearn how I thought about all of it.
Because knowing the science and knowing how to apply it in a home built on child-led, low demand, play-based learning are two entirely different things. I spent years working that out — with my own children, and then with families just like yours. Testing what the research actually says in homes that look nothing like classrooms. Keeping only what worked in real life, with real children who had big feelings and no interest in schedules.
What I kept coming back to, again and again, was this: the parents who struggled most were not the ones who lacked knowledge.
