For homeschool parents who are doing all the right things (and still lying awake wondering if their child is going to learn to read)
This is for you 🫶🏻
TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ
A course built by a literacy specialist and educator with over a decade of experience, who also homeschools three boys — so you get evidence based literacy, adapted specifically to the kind of home you've actually built.
Â
If you want your child to become a skilled, joyful reader and writer — and you want to make that happen inside the real, connection-first, child-led homeschool you've already built — this is for you.
Whether your child hasn't shown any interest in letters yet or is already beginning to sound out words, this course meets you exactly where you are.
FACT: Caring deeply about your child's literacy and knowing how to support it are two completely different things.
You are doing the read alouds. You are giving your child time and space and an unhurried childhood. You have chosen a life that puts connection and joy first, and you are showing up for that every single day.
You care deeply, but reading and writing still just won't click.
So you've tried to fix it.
You've Googled it at 10pm when the kids are finally asleep. You've asked in the Facebook groups and come away more overwhelmed than when you started because half the thread says to wait and trust the process, and the other half is recommending boxed curricula and reading schedules that look nothing like your home.
You've put something into ChatGPT and got a list of phonics games that didn't quite land. You may have sat down to try a program with your child and watched them shut down, push back, or get up and walk away.
And you are still sitting with that same worry you started with.
Here is what nobody in those threads is telling you: the problem was never your effort, your dedication, or your instincts. And it was never your child.
The problem is that the knowledge you actually need (real, specific, evidence-based knowledge about how reading and writing develop and how to support them in a home built on play and connection) is almost impossible to find in a form that fits your life.
The Facebook groups don't have it. The Google searches don't have it. The curricula designed for classrooms definitely don't have it.
That knowledge lives at one very specific intersection: the science of reading, filtered through the real lived experience of applying it in a home that looks nothing like a classroom.
That is a rare thing to find. And that gap (not your love, not your effort, not your choices) is the only reason you are still stuck.
That is fixable. And that is exactly what this course is here to do.
What if the only thing standing between you and a child who reads with confidence and joy was finally having the right knowledge?
A note from Amity
I spent over a decade as a classroom teacher. I hold postgraduate qualifications in language and literacy. I genuinely love teaching, and I spent years building a deep understanding of how reading and writing develop in children.
When I started homeschooling my own three children, I had all of that knowledge — and I still had to completely rethink how to apply it. Because a home is not a classroom. A child with opinions and big feelings and big movement needs and no interest in sitting at a table is not a school student. And an approach that works beautifully in a Year 2 classroom does not automatically work at the kitchen table on a Monday morning.
I had to work out how to take what the science of reading actually says and make it work in a home that looks nothing like school. That took years of applying it with my own kids, testing it with families just like yours, and refining it until I could hand you something that actually works in real life.
My children are now intrinsically motivated, independent readers. People regularly ask me how my children 'taught themselves to read.' That question is the proof — my approach is so natural and joyful that from the outside it doesn't look like teaching, even though it always is.
This course is what I wish had existed when I started. It is built from the intersection of formal qualifications, deep expertise, and the real lived experience of homeschooling children who don't sit still and don't follow schedules. That combination is rare. This knowledge is not something you can get from a Google search or a ChatGPT prompt — because it is not generic. It is specific, tested, and designed for exactly the home you are trying to build.

Here's what you get inside
Teach Your Child to Read
THE NESTWISE READING FRAMEWORK — THE COMPLETE COURSE
(Value: $300+ to learn privately from a qualified literacy specialist)Â
Across 9 expert-taught video lessons, you will walk away knowing:
🫶🏻 Exactly how reading develops (the real science, not the simplified version) so you finally understand what is happening with your child and what it means for what you do next
🫶🏻 Why phonemic awareness matters SO much and how to develop it through play, conversation, and the moments you are already having with your child (long before a single letter needs to appear)
🫶🏻 How to teach phonics in a way that fits your home and your child so that learning to read words feels like a game, not a battle, and your child gets there without the resistance
🫶🏻 Why the way most people teach sight words doesn't work and what to do instead, so your child actually remembers them and reading starts to flow
🫶🏻 Why the conversations, the read alouds, and the rich everyday moments you are already having with your child are building something more important than you know (and how to be intentional about it without adding anything to your day)
🫶🏻 How to use simple games to give your child repeated, joyful practice with the words and patterns they are learning (no pressure, no worksheets, just play that builds real skills)
🫶🏻 How to weave literacy into the ordinary moments of your day (without a lesson plan, a schedule, or a single worksheet)
🫶🏻 How to protect your child's relationship with books and reading throughout the whole process, so that skill and joy for reading grow together rather than in competition with each other

Sound familiar?
→ You've tried waiting, because someone told you to trust the process and trust your child.
But you don't actually know what the process looks like, and the waiting is making you more anxious, not less.
→ You've sat down to work through a reading program with your child and watched them shut down, push back, or simply check out.
You want to do things differently but you don't know what differently actually looks like in practice.
→ You've spent evenings in homeschool Facebook groups reading threads that tell you to either do nothing or replicate school — and neither option feels right for your home or your child.
And nobody in those threads seems to be talking about the same thing.
This course is for you if...
✓ You want to understand how reading actually develops — not just which steps to follow, but why the steps work, so you can adapt them to your actual child in your actual home.
✓ You want to feel genuinely confident not just hopeful — knowing what you're doing and why it works, so you can stop second-guessing every decision you make about your child's reading.
✓ You believe in child-led, play-based learning and you're tired of advice that ignores that. You want one clear, evidence-based framework that works in a home that looks like yours.
Ready to teach your child to read — in your home, your way?
You are probably already doing more of the right things than you realise. What this course gives you is the framework to see that, build on it, and know exactly what comes next. No script. No pressure. No expectation that your home should look like anyone else's.
Just the knowledge — real, specific, evidence-based — that makes you the most important resource your child has.
