READY TO PLAY PHONICS GAMES
No planning, no writing out word lists, no guessing which words to use.
Five games, filled in for every stage of my Letter and Sound Sequence, from s a t p i n all the way to vowel teams and full sentences.
You know your child needs practice. Lots of it.
Reading the same sounds, again and again, until they stick (that's how it works, there's no way around it).
But finding the RIGHT words for where your child is up to? Writing them onto a board? Making sure there's nothing in there they haven't learned yet? That's the bit that turns a five minute game into a forty minute job. And by the time it's ready, the moment has passed.
So I did it for you.
A 200 page printable pack, ready when you are
Ready to Play Phonics Games is a 200 page printable pack. Every stage of my sequence has its own word cards and five game boards, already filled in with words your child can actually read at that stage. Most stages also have a sentence section, so your child gets to use their new sounds in real sentences.
Find your stage
The clickable contents page takes you straight there.
One page of cards and one board is all you need.
Play
Five or ten minutes. Stop while it's still fun.
Everything you need to print and play
- 15 stages following my Letter and Sound Sequence: first sounds, digraphs, blends, ll ff ss zz ck, magic e, bossy r, vowel teams and phrases
- 8 sentence sections, made only from sounds taught up to that stage (plus a short list of heart words)
- Five games for every stage: Four in a Row, Race to the End, Snakes and Ladders, the Dice Game and Dots and Boxes
- Word cards for every stage and sentence cards for 8 stages, with the stage printed on every card (so when they end up under the couch, you can sort them back again)
- Five blank boards, plus ideas for turning them into read and spell games
- A how to use page and a clickable contents page
- A video walkthrough showing how to play each game, how to make it easier or harder, and how to adapt it for demand sensitive kids
Practice that's right for where your child is
To read words quickly and easily, children need to connect the sounds in a word to its letters, over and over, until the word sticks. That takes practice with words made from sounds they've already been taught.
Every board in this pack is built that way. Stage 3 only uses stage 3 words. The stage 6 sentences only use sounds your child knows by stage 6. So the practice is right for where your child is, and they get lots of success while they do it.
And because it's a game, forty words on a board feels like Snakes and Ladders, not a worksheet.
In the video I share ways to soften the games for demand sensitive kids. Small changes that take the pressure off, so the game can feel safe and fun and your child can still get all of the practice.
It's all still reading practice. It's practice that actually happens, which is the whole point.
Is this right for your family?
- Your child is learning to read with phonics and needs more practice that doesn't feel like work
- You want games that match exactly where your child is up to
- You'd rather print and play than plan and prep
- You're homeschooling, or you want something playful for after school

Five minutes of practice that feels like a game is worth so much more than a worksheet that never gets finished.
P.S. These games are the practice. If you'd like the teaching that comes before them, every sound and pattern in order and how to make it work in a home that looks nothing like a classroom, that's Teach Your Child to Read.
